I’ve been having a love affair with Copic markers. It’s gotten rather hot and heavy, and I think it’s real love and not just the cheating, whoring kind of love. I definitely cannot wait to unveil these works at MTAC OMEGA! HELL YES I AM PSYCHED WHICH IS WHY I CANT STOP CAPS LOCKING!!!

I hope, if you’re reading this, that you’re also going to MTAC 2012 as it is going to be AMAZING!

Enjoy these new works and I hope to get to draw for you soon!

Artwork of an OC of mine based on the legend of Bonnie and Clyde. This particular story is set in an alternative sci-fi universe where “Bonnie” (B0-NN13) and “Clyde” (CL4-YD3) are a pair of escaped military prototype war cyborgs. Built for infiltration and high-intensity combat, the pair begin to wreak havoc throughout their star system, earning them the name “Star Killers”.
This is “Bonnie” seen modelling a dress of her own design. The red was meant to give it a sort of shimmering irridescent effect. Her makeup is based on my girlfriend’s makeup and the hair is also based off of her wig.

Just one piece of art for now. Since work has started full swing, it looks like I’ll be doing more of that and less art. At least until I get this Junos thing going.
Enjoy this work in progress in the mean time!

ART ‘SPLOSION!

Lots of work got done over the weekend and I am very happy with most of it! Still learning the ins-and-outs of colored pencil but I’m confident it will all start gelling together soon :)

I hope that I can get more people to this blog and get more watchers or critics. I can always be open to helpful suggestions!

Another quick sketch done tonight of a pair of OC characters based off of Bonnie & Clyde. Their names, which are totally original, are B0-NN13 and CL4-DE. The story they’re being based in is a sci-fi gangster short story where the pair have been on the lam after fleeing an experimental military research facility. Like any good escaped weapons, they immediately take up a life of crime because screw humans. “Clyde” is the brains of the operation, normally planning strategies around “Bonnie” and her abilities. While not only being very attention-grabbing and manipulative in her words, “Bonnie” can enter a state of a drug-fueled sociopathic and homicidal rage. This makes her perfect for diversions while “Clyde” deploys various mechanisms to commit theft on a grand scale. In this image, “Clyde” ponders their new life together as free beings while “Bonnie” simply stares at him longingly, clutching a gun in her free hand.

Enjoy!

Quick sketch done for Antagonistic Cosplay. The design is off by a lot of details, and that’s my own fault for not getting a reference image. I’ll probably try again later with a new upload. This time I won’t be completely lazy and thoughtless. But you live, you learn, and you get drunk and hastily forget what you just learned and cram it in the morning after.
In any case, here is Pony fanart. FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC!

Uploading some more recently finished works. The first is some fanart for the awesome costuming over at Antagonistic Cosplay (http://www.facebook.com/AntagonisticCosplay)

I highly reccomend checking out Layla Antagonist’s work if you haven’t already. And a few more “likes” to the page are always helpful! This is fanart of one of her mroe recent endeavours, Lady Link, a feminine adaptation of the elfie-male protagonist from The Legend of Zelda.

The second piece is based on a conversation at a coffee shop porch and playing a lot of Mass Effect 2. I loved the design for Tali’Zorah vas Normandy/Neemah, and had been having a great conversation that morning about how awesome Star Wars was. The birth of those ideas was a four-armed half-droid chick with a pair of twin bladed lightsabers because that totally makes sense and stuff.

The third piece is Asa, one of the main female protagonists in Verse, looking rather awesome while conjuring up a spell. Wanted to experiment a bit more with perspective because I’m still very much learning how to art. I’m probably going to try and tackle a few fanart pieces in the coming months. They’re great for promotion, they get fans talking about your work, and they get people interested in seeing more of your stuff because they were hooked by seeing one of their favorite characters.

The final piece is actually a sketch done for an old friend of mine on EverQuest 2, Lalayla/Skyana. I’ve since been unable to play EQ2 because of my job and the financial constraints, but I think a part of me will always long for the escape that roleplaying an undead Iksar lich brought. The people made that game amazing, and a part of me will definitely always miss them. But smile because it happened, right?

Thank you all. I will have more art coming soon.

So, yes, massive upload. I realize my last upload was a while ago and…While I would like to apologize for that, I’m a fairly private person with my work. I’m very self-concious about it, but the good news is I’m WELL over that now. I’m going to start uploading my work to this tiny little blog just to get myself over that little fear.

This is a selection of works for my MTAC 2012 Concourse Application. I’ve always been a bigger fan of working in traditional media, what with having a degree in the subject and all, so this is what you would find if you were cool and going to MTAC OMEGA. Like all the other cool kids in Nashville. If you are cool, you’ll support me in getting a table again for my FOURTH CONCOURSE RETURN! -insert triumphant music here-

MTAC is the most fun an anime geek, or any geek for that matter, can have in the southeast. Even if I’m not there this year, I support anyone who’s mildly interested in coming to do so. It is a blast and never fails to deliver three days of non-stop excitement and insanity!

Without further blabbering from a crazed artist, HERE ARE DRAWINGS AND PAINT SCRIBBLES.

Uploading a warm-up sketch done this morning. It’s nothing really special at all, just something I wanted to draw at the time. This leads me onto the main focus of this post. If you’re reading this, then you’re on my sketchblog (no, really?) As such, I want to go ahead and tell you now that the materials on this blog I will b uploading, both written, visual, or otherwise, are rated PG-13. I am an artist who studies the human figure, so I will draw nudity. I’ve come to a point professionally where nudity and the human body no longer have any link to something perverse. Will I draw work solely for the intention of evoking lustful emotion? Yes, I will. I will because: It sells; it’s good practice; it’s fun.
I want to take another moment to put a belief of mine down as well. Art is something I have practiced and pursued since I was a little kid. Now my art is beginning to come together, slowly but surely. I love what I draw, or at least I try to. More often than not I find myself wanting to draw what other people would like to see, or what I would be able to post and not offend anyone.  Well, I can’t be concerned with that any more. I am representative of myself by my actions, and though I love my family with all my heart, they would probably not find some of the drawings I do for commissions appropriate.  I have no intention of causing them distress but instead wanting to simply walk my own path in life. There will come a time when those around me will just have to accept the fact that I will draw what I feel, and sometimes I want to draw the nude figure. Also, I do not have to explain my drawings to anyone. Ever. My creative endeavors are my own, and just as I made a choice to create it you, too, have made a choice to view it. This sketchblog is tiny, so if you’ve wandered here and find yourself offended, there’s a nifty back button on the top of your browser.

tl;dr (you lazy bastard)
I draw naked people. Deal with it.

I’ve got two art uploads today! One of them is an original ink piece, while the other is a sketch-card I received in an art trade with a very talented young artist at MTAC.
The first piece is from my short story, Corvus - King of Crows. It’s the protagonist, Corvus, with his human friend, Lyra. The shadows that cover Corvus’ body are becoming the forms of his magical familiars: a flock of headless crows. Lyra, entranced by the dancing shadows merely stands and observes with a smile of amazement.

The second piece is of a character from Verse, the story written by myself and my good friend Haley Carter. The character featured is Asa Kimura: a ditzy, skinny, six foot tall half black/asian wizardess. It was drawn as my gift in an art trade at MTAC. I only know the artist’s first name is Shannon and her last name begins with a “C”. If you know who she is, please let me know so I can edit her name and give due credit for such amazing work.

Thank you all!

Thoughts

Taking a break from posting another picture today, so instead I’ll post some writing.

Thinking introspectively for a moment, I’ve felt that lately I’ve formed some great connections with many wonderful people. But in meeting so many wonderful people, I notice that many of them carry a lot on their minds. I often times think about how someone could go through their daily life, many much harder than my own, and still come out smiling.

I would like to think that it’s because of a few possible reasons. Maybe some people are just naturally very nice and very agreeable and open. Maybe some people just refuse to let life beat them down. Maybe others have been so beaten down that they refuse to let that happen to anyone else. Whatever the reason may be, what I notice in these magnificent figures is that they’re not in a self-perpetuating cycle of causing and suffering pain. Their lives are generally balanced, they have a great support system of friends and family, and they realize everything they have.

The only thing about this that I regret is that 2 out of the 3 reasons involve someone getting hurt, in this case it’s someone I care deeply for. If you’re a friend of mine, I care about you a lot. And seeing anyone hurt, especially any of you, breaks my heart. If you’re reading this and you’re feeling hurt or feeling like you just need to let something out of your mind and get it away from you, then call me. E-mail me. Text me. Do whatever you can to get in contact with me because I will listen. And I’m here to tell you that it’s going to be okay. Also, don’t use distance as an excuse. Unless you’re more than two states away, I can get there and help you out. The best part? I want to. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my friends and family happy.

All that depressing shtuff aside (but srsly…call me you guys. You guys, srsly.) I’ve got an awesome week ahead. Dropping off the first series of post-MTAC commissions, moving on to completing more convo credit work, completing papers, meetings, ads to design, and so much more…And I can’t WAIT! Also looking into this Hypericon thing. Maybe they need a few more artists in their concourse? Only time and fact-checking will tell.

That will be all for now, I think.
